Project 4 — Invent a sport (Grades 4-6)

|

|
Did you know that the game of basketball was invented in 1891 by a Canadian, James Naismith? With a group, put your brains and creativity together to come up with a new sport of your own. You could try combining two sports you really enjoy, like golf and cycling, volleyball and basketball, or swimming and ultimate Frisbee. Remember to draw up a set of rules. How many players will you have on each team? What will be the penalties? Will the games be divided into periods? And, of course, what will you call your new sport? Once you've worked it all out, it's time to put your plans to the test. Who knows, you could have the makings of a brand new Olympic event!
