Warming Up — Looking at the body's systems
Your body is like an amazing factory that never stops working. Think of all the things your body does every day, without you even noticing: breathing, digesting, fidgeting.… It's a never-ending powerhouse of energy, and it's all thanks to six different systems that work together to keep you healthy and active: digestive, skeletal, muscular, respiratory, circulatory, and nervous.
In a group, discuss one of these systems and jot down its role in your body, its parts and activities, and how to keep it functioning at peak performance. What kinds of food does it need to work efficiently? What does it do for you? What things could harm it?
When you've filled in everything you know, do a bit of research to see if there was anything you forgot. These websites might help you:
