The equipment used by athletes is constantly being updated to be the lightest, fastest, or most streamlined. Just think about how the simple running shoe has morphed over the years, from a simple canvas shoe into an air-pumped, arch-supporting, speed-enhancing piece of engineering.
Prepare a five-minute oral presentation about the history of a particular sport technology, and discuss how it has affected the speed, safety, or technique of the sport. Make sure to use illustrations, which you could get from websites, magazines, or books. You could even use a video to demonstrate some of your points. The public library is a great resource for audio-visual information. You could think about researching the evolution of racing bikes, skis, hockey skates, or bobsleighs.
