It's your turn to walk (or run, skate, or ski) in the shoes of a successful athlete — complete with radio and TV interviews.

For this project you'll need a video or audio tape recorder and a partner. With your partner, decide who will play the role of a specific Olympic or professional athlete, and who will play the role of an award-winning nationally broadcast journalist.

To be properly prepared for the interview, do some research online or at the library to find out how your athlete made it to stardom. In any exciting interview, a good interviewer should know what questions to ask — and a good interviewee should have their answers prepared.

What questions will you be asking your athlete? Here are some examples of insightful questions:
"When did you first know you wanted to be a hockey player?"
"How often do you have to practise?"
"How did you afford your training?"
"Where did you train?"
"How did you choose your coach?"
"What do you like best about your sport?"
"What's the highlight of your career?

Once you've worked out your questions and answers, write them down, and get the cameras or tape-recorders rolling. You're ready for your live interview!

After you've done your interview, change roles. The athlete will now become a journalist, and the journalist will become a celebrity, such as an actor, singer, athlete, or business executive, complete with all the perks!

As a celebrity, ask yourself how you climbed the ladder of success and what challenges you faced along the way. Do some research into the career you want to succeed in and role models whose example you could follow. The journalist should pose questions that reveal how you attained success. Once again, make sure to get it all on tape.

When you are finished, you can broadcast these interviews to the entire class, and discuss what they tell you about setting targets and taking aim at your goals.
