In this activity, you'll create your own mini-book about the life and times of the person you chose to research. To help get started, you might want to have a look at a library book that describes a famous person's life. Like any other book, yours will include:

• Title — You'll need a catchy title for your book. Think of words that describe the person you chose to help you think of a good title. One example might be: "Wayne Gretzky, Fire on Ice"

• Cover — Every book starts with an eye-catching cover, and that includes yours. Design an exciting image for your cover. It could be a scene of an athlete in action or an image that represents something important in the life of the person you are writing about.

• Title page — Using a real book title page as a model, include the title, author (you!), publisher (your school), and copyright date (today's date).

• Dedication and Table of Contents — You might want to do this last. This page follows the title page and includes an index to the sections of your book. You can also include a note dedicating the book to someone special in your life.

• Chapter 1 — Write a one-page biography of the life of your athlete/celebrity. Did he or she have to deal with challenges and disappointments? Make sure to include these. Where possible, add pictures or illustrations to bring the story to life.

• Chapter 2 — Find a news story from a newspaper or a website that covers an event in your subject's life. This will be your second chapter. You could also use pictures in this section of your book to liven it up a bit.

• Chapter 3 — What questions would you like to ask this person face to face? You might ask for advice, or how he or she dealt with challenges. Write down at least four questions and why you'd ask them to create your third chapter.

• Chapter 4 — Now it's time to write about your own hopes and dreams. What is your greatest dream in life? Would you like to be a famous actor or a great writer? You might even want to be a successful business person. Explain what you will need to do to achieve your dream. What kinds of bumps might you encounter on the road to success? How will you get past them?
